NatHERS Energy efficiency ratings (EERs) for homes, houses, residences, flats, units, apartments and townhouses
We are licensed to provide energy efficiency ratings for new houses or extension projects for existing houses in both ACT and basics compliance in NSW including Thermal Comfort Simulations.
Price depends on the design complication of the house. Please send us plans and elevations for a firm quote. The price we quote will include reasonable refinement to achieve a "pass". Our current indicative price list can be accessed here.
Home in on the most cost effective solution
We offer multiple high speed building energy simulations of multiple potential improvements (like better windows, lighter/darker colours, added insulation and their various combinations) for cheaper and better NatHERS energy ratings. This is carried out overnight as a bureau service. Click here for details; including our Rating_OptiMizer Client Selection order sheet to allow you to calculate a quote.
The value of EERs outside the Building Code regulation for construction and alterations
Since April 1999, the results of a NatHERS compliant Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) has been a mandatory inclusion in any advertisement to sell a residence in the Australian Capital Territory (and for leasing where an EER pre-exists). At that time, Denmark was the only other jurisdiction anywhere with that requirement. Now, by virtue of the "EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive" in 2008, it is required throughout the European Union. Separate analyses of the ACT and the EU schemes have established the effectiveness of those policies. Exemplary Energy Partners has been monitoring the nexus between EER and advertised price since the scheme's inception and occasionally publishes the results. No other Australian jurisdiction has replicated this scheme as yet despite repeated resolutions of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG).
In addition to the European experience and our ongoing research, research by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has also shown that there is a reliable link between EER and price in the ACT residential market.
Energy Efficiency Rating and House Price in the ACT
Modelling the relationship of energy efficiency attributes to house price: the case of detached houses sold in the Australian Capital Territory in 2005 and 2006.
This report was prepared by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) for the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) and published in 2008.
